Statistical process control in production process and factory practices

In this study, finding and solving the probable problems in the production process in the firms which produce foods by using Statistical Process Control are searched.First of all, production management and quality concepts and their relationship with each other are mentioned. In addition to this, Food Industry is described and its place in the economy of Turkey is explained. According to the study, Statistical Process Control technique and Total Quality Management techniques are searched with the samples from the company which is observed.While Food Industry is searched, it is understood that contractual agriculture is important for both the companies to produce goods with the ratio of pesticide residue which is determined by the law and to cost down and the customers to consume safe and healthy food. Moreover, it is necessary to follow and control the farmers in order to increase fertility and the quality of raw material. When it is thought that in total quality management, all the functions have great roles to achieve quality, the importance of following and controlling the farmers with contractual agriculture can be seen better.At the end of the study, problem of over-filling in tomato paste production process is found out with the Statistical Process Control. The problem is researched in view of cost criterion and suggestions to solve it are given.
