The examination the levels of anxiety and the perfectivity of student's parents whose students have been nominated to get the diagnosis of superior intelligence

This study examines the relationship between examiner anxiety and perfectionist attitudes of student's parents participating in science and art center student selection process in Diyarbakır province. The research area consists of the parents of 1.033 students who are taking the intelligence test and participating in the diagnostic process. The total number of parents who make up the research area is 2.066 people. Snowball sampling method was used to determine the sample of the study. Of the 301 participants, 160 are the mother of the child and 141 are the father of the child. Personal Information/Questionnaire Form, Parental Exam Anxiety Scale and APS Perfectionism Scale have been used as data collection tools. The analysis found that parents with incompatible perfectionist attitudes had the highest level of exam concerns, while parents with compatible perfectionist attitudes had the lowest level of exam concerns. While the expectations of parents with harmonious perfectionist attitude were more realistic, it was noticed that other parents tented to call their children as 'super intelligent'. Concluded that perfectionist personality trait had a significant effect on parental exam anxiety. Keywords: Parent exam anxiety, gifted label, perfectionism
