Examınatıon of teacher and student opınıons regardıng the dıstance educatıon mathematıcs course ın the context of metacognıtıve awareness

The purpose of this research is to examine the opinions of students and teachers about mathematics lessons conducted with distance education in secondary schools in the context of metacognitive awareness. Mixed research method was used in the research. 326 students studying in secondary schools in Tomarza district of Kayseri province and 5 mathematics teachers participated in the study. Developed by Schraw and Dennison (1994) and adapted into Turkish by Akın, Abacı and Çetin (2007) the "Metacognitive Awareness Inventory", and the "Evaluation Scale of Teaching in the Pandemic Process" by Tutal, Kayalı, Yavuz, Hasançebi and Yeşildağ Hasançebi (2021), and the "Student Interview Form" and the "Teacher Interview Form" prepared by the researcher were used as data collection tools in the research. Independent samples t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Person Product Moments Correlation analysis were used in the analysis of quantitative data. Content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. As a result of the research, it was determined that there was a low-level positive and significant relationship between the students' metacognitive awareness levels and the levels of evaluation of teaching during the pandemic process. While it was seen that the students thought that they did not reach the required level in the mathematics lessons held during the distance education process, the teachers also stated that the learning efficiency of the students was at a low level.
