Abstract (EN)
Energy is a very important and indispensable element that people benefit from in every field. Fossil-sourced fuels are among the most important energy resources used today. The reasons such as the depletion of fossil fuels over time, the harmful emissions damaging the atmosphere and increasing global warming, and the increase in prices day by day, made the search for alternative energy inevitable. In this study, biofuels were obtained from sour cherry and grape seed oils by the transesterification method, the biofuels obtained were mixed with diesel fuel in certain proportions (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and biofuel mixtures (VSNB05, VSNB10, VSNB15, VSNB20, UZMB05, UZMB10, UZMB15, UZMB20) have been provided. Fuel forms prepared; the effects on performance and exhaust emission characteristics of a single cylinder, air cooled, direct injection diesel engine have been investigated. The data provided by biofuel mixtures at maximum torque and maximum power and engine speeds decreased compared to diesel fuel, specific fuel consumption increased at low revs for all fuel types, and a minimum specific fuel consumption value was obtained at 2500 rpm. Specific fuel consumption data increased again after 2500 rpm engine speed. In addition, it has been observed that as engine speed increases for all fuel types, exhaust gas outlet temperatures also increase. For all fuel forms, as the engine speed increases, CO and O2 emission values decrease, CO2 emission data increase, CO and CO2 emission data of biofuel mixtures decrease compared to diesel fuel. HC emissions are high at low engine speeds. NOX emissions increased up to engine speed at which maximum torque was achieved, then decreased. It has been determined that the smoke density values of biofuel mixtures are lower than diesel fuel.
