Abstract (EN)

Today, communication infrastructures and digital technologies have become indispensable elements of modern life. Especially in extraordinary situations such as the global Covid-19 pandemic, the importance of fast, reliable, and secure communication networks has once again emerged. In this process, thanks to remote access and digital communication channels, the continuation of social life has been ensured and it has been possible to touch people's lives. This is proof that this situation is of great importance in the selection and development of communication infrastructures. In addition to the development and use of communication infrastructures, this thesis examines the characteristics of FTTX (Fiber To The X) infrastructures and Gpon (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) performance in detail through field studies in various districts of Van. The bit rates and capacities provided to customers by FTTC and FTTH infrastructures were measured, and the investment costs were also analyzed in detail by taking the 2024 Global Tender Investment Costs of Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. Various measurement tests were performed on 18 lines in different neighborhoods and districts in Van province and the results were evaluated. With this research, investment and transformation recommendations have been made that will enable both investor operator companies and users in Van province to respond more effectively to their needs, make informed decisions in infrastructure investments, and increase the future sustainability and efficiency of the communication and communication sector.
