Abstract (EN)

İnat Ölmez G. Prevalence of Toxocara Vitulorum in Diarrheic Calves Across the Districts of Van Province. Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Institute of Health Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Parasitology, Master's Thesis, Van, 2025. The material of the study consists of 250 diarrheal fluid samples from 0-6 month old diarrheal calves raised in Van province and its districts. Microscopic examination of fecal samples was performed using the rotation flotation method. As a result of microscopic examination of 250 samples, T. vitulorum eggs were found in 23 (% 9.2) samples. When the general prevalence of infection was evaluated in terms of districts, the highest positivity rate was detected in Saray district. This was followed by Erciş with 15.7% (19/3), İpekyolu with 14.28% (42/6), Gevaş with 11.42% (35/4), Tuşba with 10% (20/2), and Edremit with 8.69% (23/2). The lowest positivity rate was detected in Özalp district with 7.4% (27/2). In the statistical analysis, no significant relationship was found when evaluated at p<0.05 level in terms of districts, age, gender, and month of 0-6 month old diarrheal calves infected with Toxocara vitulorum. As a result; It was determined that Toxocara vitulorum was widespread in Van Province and its districts and that the disease should not be neglected. It was concluded that comprehensive and sustainable strategies should be developed in order to control parasitic infections such as T. vitulorum in livestock enterprises, especially in calves.
