Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to measure kidney sizes by ultrasonography and to investigate the incidence of polycystic kidney disease in Van cats. The animal material of the study was 80 Van cats of different ages, different genders and different eye colors. After the general clinical examination of the animals, right and left kidney measurements (kidney length, kidney height, kidney width, kidney volume, kidney cortex length, kidney medulla length, abdominal aort and resistive index) were made with an ultrasonography device. The findings obtained were recorded for evaluation. The right and left kidneys of the cats were examined with USG and it was investigated whether there was polycystic kidney disease. In the kidney measurements of cats belonging to different age groups, it was determined that the measurements in both the right and left kidneys showed statistical differences between the groups. It was observed that these values generally increased from the 1st to the 4th group and there were changes in kidney sizes according to age. It was observed that there were no statistically significant changes in the intergroup comparisons of aortic diameter and renal resistivity index values. In addition, it was determined that the measurements made according to gender and eye colors in different age groups did not differ statistically. In this study, the right and left kidneys of Van cats were examined with USG, and no polycystic kidney disease was detected in any of the cats. In conclusion; In this study, for the first time, the presence of polycystic kidney disease was investigated in Van cats by ultrasonography. It was determined that the disease was not found in Van cats included in the study and the incidence of the disease in Van cats was very low. In addition, in this study, normal kidney sizes were measured by ultrasonographic examination in Van cats according to different ages, genders and eye colors. It was concluded that kidney sizes increased according to age groups, but gender and eye colors had no effect on kidney sizes.
