Examining the relationship between parents' digital parenting awareness levels and their participation in their children's education

In the current digital age, there are important links between family communication, parental adaptation to the digital age and parental contribution to education. The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationships between parents' digital parenting attitudes and parental involvement in the educational process from the perspective of family communication. In addition, the study aims to determine the screen usage time and purposes of parents' children who are studying; to investigate whether parents' digital parenting attitudes change according to various characteristics of parents and children and whether digital parenting varies within the impact of digital parenting on family communication and parental involvement in education. In this study, it is aimed to explain the relationship between intra-family communication and parental involvement in digital education from the perspective of digital parenting of parents with primary school-age children. Data were collected online with the contribution of 243 female and 106 male participants between the ages of 25-55 living in Dörtyol district of Hatay. ''Personal Information Form'', ''Digital Parenting Awareness Scale'' and ''Parent Involvement Scale'' were applied to the parents who participated in the study. The results were analyzed using SPSS program. As a result of the study, a significant relationship was obtained between the digital parenting awareness levels of parents with primary school-age children living in Dörtyol district and the level of parental involvement. It can be said that as the participants' digital parenting awareness levels increase, the level of parental involvement increases. In addition, as a result of the study, it was concluded that some demographic variables affect the level of digital parenting awareness and parental involvemen.
