Abstract (EN)

The vestibular system is a vital mechanism responsible for maintaining balance and spatial orientation. This system functions by integrating signals from the inner ear with environmental cues such as visual and proprioceptive inputs to help individuals maintain equilibrium. However, dysfunctions in the vestibular system can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, imbalance, and other vestibular complaints. These symptoms can significantly impair individuals' daily activities, contribute to workforce productivity losses, and negatively affect mental health. Prolonged symptoms, in particular, may predispose individuals to psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life and psychological status of individuals presenting with complaints of dizziness and imbalance, as well as those who did not seek clinical care. Validated assessment tools, including the Dizziness Handicap Inventory, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the Psychological Well-Being Scale, were used in the evaluation process. The findings highlighted the necessity of addressing not only physical symptoms but also psychological conditions during the diagnostic and evaluation processes. This approach emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary framework in better understanding patients' complaints and optimizing diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes.
