"Video Mapping" in the context of video art and instalation

Modernism, which started to develop at the beginning of the twentieth century, has the understanding of "art for art"; In postmodernism, critical aspects of art have come up more. While the artists exhibiting a modernism approach do not exhibit a political approach to their works, the works created by the artists with a postmodernist approach are the opposite. While modernism was on the rise, concepts such as consensus, hierarchy and homogeneity were adopted in society and artists; In postmodernists, concepts such as equality, heterogeneity and pluralism have become the subjects that artists are based on. From a formal perspective, it is known that the most important quality that distinguishes postmodernism from modern art, which became well visible after the II. World War, is the techniques used. In postmodernist art; techniques such as editing, collage, manipulation and video mapping are examples of reproduction processes. With the development of technology, the concept of "reproduction" has turned into production and reproduction technologies. Multidisciplinary work platforms began to emerge in the nineteenth century. However, today it can be said that all disciplines are intertwined and borders have disappeared. It is seen that postmodernism, which started to come to the agenda in the 1960s, found its place in all fields of art. One of the most effective examples of interdisciplinary is "Video Mapping" studies. Digital video outputs projected on various surfaces with the projector require working with multiple disciplines. To perceive the resulting image in three dimensions by the viewer, it must be ensured that it goes through a series of technical processes. These technical processes include steps such as mapping studies, animation production and editing. The display conditions of the applications performed with the video mapping technique have some differences compared to other art applications. In this respect, video mapping and installation art should be evaluated together. The art of installation means that the artistic work that is constructed in a space is integrated with the space and establishes a relationship. In this way, the audience has the opportunity to interpret the work by experience. In the sample application in this study, a platform was designed in the context of place and a different model for mapping was added to the platform. In the platform, it is aimed to create a depth effect using tulle. An installation setup was tried to be realized by integrating two different floors with the video outputs reflected on the platform and platform placed in the platform. In this study, the conditions that prepared the twentieth century art environment were examined in detail in the context of the concept of mass. Art disciplines that are compatible with the "Video Mapping" technique were researched. Again, thanks to the applications prepared with this technique, the process of producing meaning in conceptual art was handled; a sample application has been realized in the context of video art and installation. In Turkey, video mapping technique, which became widespread in recent years in the use of advertising and marketing, but its use as a means of artistic production is rare. Together with this study, "video mapping technique in the context of video art and installation" was applied for the first time in the academic level in Turkey. Thus, it is aimed to show that video mapping technique can be used as an effective technique in artistic works in the context of video art and installation and to transfer the steps of this technique as a guide.
