Abstract (EN)

In the province of Giresun, Eastern, Black Sea Region volcanic soils extracted via MTA drilling means were ground to minimize the effects of particle size and absorption in a hand mortar and sifted in of 400 mesh sieves. Before pressing, 0,9 g cellulose as binder was added to the volcanic soils and mixed thoroughly with powdered specimen for 15 minutes by ball mill in order to ensure a homogeneous distribution. The sample was pressed for the forming tablets with 30 mm in diameter under a certain hydraulic pressure. The masses of the samples were determined by using precision balance with 10-5g precision scales. Then, the samples were burned at 1050 ? C in order to calculate the ignition losses (loi). The qualitative and quantitative analyses of the tablet-shaped samples were carried out by Philips model, Axios mark, WD-XRF spectrometer. Two major oxides with high concentrations (Fe2O3 and SiO2) that exist in geological samples were selected as analyte to determine the absorption-enhancement effects on characteristic K x-ray emitted from the geological samples, Fe2O3 with 99,999 % purity was added into two different geological samples not including Fe2O3. The absorption-enhancement effects on characteristic K x-ray emitted from two major oxides were determined by using the standard addition method. Increasing the concentration of analyte, decreased the concentration of matrix. Therefore, the characteristic K x-ray intensities of Fe2O3 and SiO2 had a deviation with 3-11% from the normalization values., characteristic K x-ray intensities of two major oxides were normalized to eliminate the absorption-enhancement effects on characteristic K x-ray emitted from the geological samples. The errors arising from the absorption-enhancement effects were minimized. Thus, the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the geological samples were performed in more accurate and more precise.
