Abstract (EN)

Parietin, Xanthoria parietina (L.) Th. Fr. Lichen is a pigment that is the secondary product of photoprotective metabolism. This pigment is known to have UV protective effects in lichen. The damage that may be caused by Xanthoria parietina ethanolic extract (XpE) in mouse skin fibroblast cells (L929) will be determined by XTT cell viability test, comet test and intracellular reactive oxygen derivatives test (DFCH-DA). When XTT results of iet 'parietin obtained from Xanthoria parietina (L.) plant exrate in L929 cell line were examined, IC50 value was determined as 768.01 mg / ml. Comet test results were compared and compared to the control group; No genotoxic effect was observed at doses of 50, 100, 200, 400, 500 mg / ml. As a result of the ROS experiment, parietin was found to have antioxidant effect. In the light of the experiments and the results obtained, it was understood that the extract isolated from Xantoria parietina lichen was not cytotoxic, did not show genotoxic effect and showed antioxidant effect as expected and would enlighten many studies.
