Abstract (EN)
This study aims to determine the "Critical Reading Criteria for Textbooks Used in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" for Yedi Iklim Turkish teaching set for B1, B2 and C1 levels of textbooks by Yunus Emre Institute, Turkish For Foreigners B1, B2 and C1 levels of textbooks by Gazi University and which activities using these criteria were included in the textbooks and which criteria were used in activities that were determined to improve critical reading skills. The study is limited to the activities of the reading texts in the Gazi University Turkish for Foreigners and Yedi Climate Turkish Teaching Set B1, B2 and C1 level textbooks prepared by the Yunus Emre Institute and the data obtained from these activities. In this study, Document analysis method which is one of the qualitative research methods used. "Critical Reading Criteria for Textbooks Used in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" developed by the researcher constitutes the data collection tool of the research. The reliability of the research and data collection tool was ensured by Miles and Huberman's 1994 model, which conceptualized the consensus among the coders by calling it internal consistency. According to results of study, when the examined textbooks are evaluated, it has been determined that the activities in which the criteria that improve critical reading skills are included in the reading text activities of the B1 and B2 intermediate level textbooks and these activities are insufficient in terms of the variety of criteria. Highest variety of criteria was found in activities related to the reading texts in the Yunus Emre Institute Yedi Iklim C1 level textbook, followed by the Gazi University Turkish for Foreigners C1 advanced level textbook. In this direction, it was found that the variety of use of critical reading criteria for the textbooks used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language in advanced textbooks compared to B1 and B2 level textbooks is consistent and desirable.
