Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, the impact of climate on buildings is becoming more and more important due to the climatic crisis. In addition to the negativities of reinforced concrete structures in terms of sustainability and the carbon emissions they emit to the environment after their demolition, their climatic characteristics also show difficulties in terms of human comfort. However, traditional buildings carry the knowledge of the past. It is important to transfer the value of these accumulations from the past to the future. In our country there exists five different climatic zones as hot-humid, hot-dry, cold, mild-humid and mild-dry. In every different climatic zone, the buildings have to be designed according to climatic conditions. In this context, it is done the research in the buildings of hot-humid and cold areas. In this study, it is investigated the buildings in the hot-humid city Mersin and cold town Çamlıyayla. It is aimed to examine which has more energy storage ability for these two selected traditional buildings from two different areas, when they are built by traditional technique and materials or by reinforced concrete technique with brick, pumice concrete, gas concrete and isolated brick. Two selected buildings from Mersin and Çamlıyayla are compared as traditional building features with today's technology building features in terms of energy storage capability and efficiency with numerical values.
