Abstract (EN)

In this study, effect of teaching activities according to creative drama, on students' mathematics achievement, permanence of information and attitudes toward mathematics determined by researcher. In the context of this research, subject of "Measurement of Length" in Measurement unit was investigated. This research was carried out in two third class of Anittepe Primary School in Çankaya in Ankara at second semester of 2003-2004 educational year. For teaching of "Measurement of Length", teaching method of creative drama was applied in experimental group and traditional teaching method was applied in control group. This research is an experimental study Multiple choice test was used for subject of "measurement of length". Attitude scale was used for measuring attitudes towards mathematics Before teaching of subject, pre-test and pre-attitude scale were applied in both experiemental and control groups. After teaching of subject, post test and post- attitude scole were applied in both groups. In addition, permanence test was applied after a month in order to identify permanence of informations. For determining effects of two methods on students' achievement, 2X2 ANCOVA model was applied on post-test scores, In this analysis, pre-test scores were taken as covarient in order to put away outside variables.IV According to findings which were obtained after research; It is found that there is a significant difference between achievement scores of experimental group. Also it is found that there is a significant difference shows that permonence test scores are higher than post-test scores so information which are acquired by students, were not forgotten. It is seen that findings are in favour of experimental group. According to post-test and permanence-test scores of control group, it is seen that there is not any positive effect of traditional teaching method on permanence of acquired knowledge of students. It is found that there is a significant difference between pre-attitude and post-attitude scores of experimental group. After analysis of data, it is found that method of creative drama has effect on students' attitudes toward mathematics and permanence of acquired knowledge in subject of "measurement of length".
