Abstract (EN)

Creative and cultural industries are the main actors for creative cities, which are the places of sustainable development. Cities need creative and cultural industries for sustainable development. From this point of view, it is aimed to determine the contribution of the TV series industry as a creative industry to the sustainable development of cities. In the research, the relationship of the TV series industry with the city and the effect it has on the development of the city by using urban spaces as a shooting platform will be tried to be revealed. As a result of in-depth interviews with the residents of the Balat-Ayvansaray neighborhoods, which are seen as the natural shooting platform for the series shooting, and the sector employees who took part in the set of Çukur, which was shot for a long time in the region, it was tried to make a judgment about the contribution of the TV series industry to sustainable development. As a result of the findings obtained in the research, it was concluded that the contribution of the TV series sector to sustainable development was positive, but remained below its potential. While the TV series industry contributes to the social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, its contribution to the economic dimension is largely due to tourism based on TV series/films.
