Abstract (EN)

In this study, we determined erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels to evaluate the agerelated changes in healthy subjects.84 healthy subjects divided in four groups as 2-11; 12-24; 25-40; 41-69 of age were investigated. No statistically significant difference in SOD activity was found among the all groups. A statistically significant difference in CAT activity was found between group 2-11 and 12-24 (P<0,05) but no statistically significant difference was observed other groups. When MDA levels of groups 2, 3 and group 4 compared to group 1, a statistically significant difference was found (P<0,0001) but when groups 2, 3 and group 4 compared to each other, no statistically significant difference was found.
