Abstract (EN)

Physical activity (FA) has been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure, including activities performed while working, playing, doing housework, traveling, and recreational pursuits". . Aging is a universal, internal and harmful process that is characterized. The progressive loss of tissue and organ function over time leads to an increased risk of developing important human pathologies such as cardiovascular disorders, cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. In the aging process, some physiological symptoms cause difficulties in performing physical activity and increase inactivity rates. As a result of the aging process, we see decreased flexibility, loss of muscle mass and decreased aerobic activity. Stepping training is a highly specific form of balance training for fall prevention that directly addresses stepping capacity, which is a commonly practiced preventive strategy for maintaining balance in the daily setting and is also an important fall risk factor in older adults. Square Step Exercise is a form of walking exercise that can be done in groups easily and at low cost because it does not require expensive equipment. It was developed to allow older adults to exercise indoors whenever they want and without the hassle of rain or severe cold that they may encounter when walking outdoors. Furthermore, CAE includes both physical and cognitive exercises and can potentially encourage social interaction as it is done as a group. In this study, we examined the effect of Square Step Exercises in terms of balance in elderly individuals. We found that Square Step Exercises had an effect on balance in older individuals.
