Abstract (EN)
As traditions and social behoviours have an important effect on social life in Urfa historical place; the feodal system, production, human relations and discrimination in male and female life style created a unique identity by effecting the space design and architectural environment. Traditional Urfa houses that have civil architecture examples shaped by culture, climate, geography and landscape in the historical period are now facing with conservation problems. Urfa houses are losing its authenticity depending on this harmfull effects that occurs by the external and internal reasons. One of these harmfull effects depends on the issues related to re-use. Traditional Urfa houses, insufficient in supporting modern life accommodation needs, have conservation problems because of renovation without using appropriate restoration techniques. The aim of this study is to research the damage of these agents on the traditional structures and to present proposals to renovate them.
