New generation of oral anticoagulant education effectof nurses on knowledge level

This study was conducted to determine the effect of new oral anticoagulants (NOAC) training, given to nurses, on their knowledge levels. The study was performed quasi- experimental, with pre-post testing. Study population included nurses working at a foundation hospital in Istanbul, between November 2022 and December 2022. 70 nurses who met the inclusion criteria were participated in the study. Study data was collected with " Descriptive Information Form" and "New Oral Anticoagulants Information Form". After the pre-test, planned training about new oral anticoagulants was given to nurses and post-test was performed after 2 weeks. The data was analysed with SPSS for Windows 20.0 program. Among the participants of the study, %71were female, %38,6 had bachelor's degree, %60 had 1-5 years of experience and %22,9 were working at general intensive care unit. While the pre-training mean score of " New Oral Anticoagulants Information Form" was 4.74, the post-traning mean score was 11.51. We found that the post-training mean score "New Oral Anticoagulants Information Form" was significantly higher than pre-training mean score ( t:7.294; p:0.00). With this study, we demonstrated that given to nurses increased their knowledge level about new oral anticoagulants.
