Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, fruits and vegatables, which are known to be rich in natural antioxidants, are consumed very much and intensity of the traditional use of them are become increasingly important. According to researches, peanuts are known to be rich in compounds such as resveratrol (RES), phenolic acids, flavonoids and phytosterols, and contain high amounts of arginine. In recent years, natural antioxidant substances have been produced and purified from plants, and there is a significant increase in the potential for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In this thesis, by extracting peanut sprouts which rich in RES, the RES compound was isolated and labeled with 131I radionuclide (131I-RES) by using the iodogen method. Cell culture studies were conducted to investigate the bioavailability of 131I-RES on human neuroblastoma cell lines (SK-N-AS and SH-SY5Y). It was seen that the radiolabeling yield of 131I-RES was 98.32 ± 1.41 % (n = 10) yield and statistically significant results were obtained in the studied cell lines. This thesis was carried out, radiolabeled plant origin componds will contribute to the development of novel agents for the imaging of neurodegenerative diseases in nuclear medicine.
