Abstract (EN)

The role of women in local politics and their participation in political processes is of great importance for the democratic development of the society in which they live. Although the place and participation of women in politics have increased from ancient times to the present, it is still seen that equal representation is not achieved in many societies today. When looking at the role of women in local politics, it can be said that it is of great importance in reflecting the diversity of the society in which they live. The different perspectives, experiences, and needs that women have can contribute to the creation of much more inclusive and effective policies when involved in political processes. However, cultural, social, and economic barriers make it difficult for women to be active in the political field. Therefore, it can be said that various steps should be taken to enable women's participation in political processes. Policies and measures aimed at awareness- raising and education, as well as those targeting positive discrimination, will be encouraging factors for women's participation in politics. Additionally, changing society's perception of women's leadership roles is also very important. Strengthening the role of women in local politics will lead to a more democratic society. The effective inclusion of women in the political decision-making process allows for the creation of much more inclusive, balanced, and fair policies. This is a very important element for the overall welfare and development of society. Based on this information, the study focuses not only on women's participation in political processes but also on the positive outcomes that will occur with the participation of women in local politics. Given the many studies in the literature on women's participation in political processes, it is thought that this study will also contribute to the body of knowledge.
