Mainstreaming gender equality in local governments: Edirne Municipality example

This study examines the mainstreaming of gender equality in local governments through the case of Edirne Municipality. The research employs thematic analysis to evaluate Edirne Municipality's activity reports and strategic plans from a gender equality perspective. The study aims to provide a framework for integrating gender equality policies into institutional structures, implementing gender-sensitive budgeting practices, and developing equality-focused local services. The findings reveal the potential of Edirne Municipality to advance its practices in gender equality while highlighting the challenges encountered in this process. Additionally, policy recommendations are proposed for local governments to enhance gender equality mainstreaming.
