The impact of green logistics on business performance: An research in healthcare enterprises

Nowadays, competition between firms have occurred among not only their goods they produce but also their logistic strategies. Lately, harsh competition, ecoist Non-Governmental Organization's (NGO) pressure and increment customer preference for green products and green processes have triggered the companies to rearrange their logistic strategies. Environmental production, reducing the cost of manufacturing via re-production and recycling, social responsibility, legal and customer pressure on companies have increased green logistics activities. These pressures in terms of green production have incentive impact on companies about sustaining green logistics implementations. Green logistics implementations defined as green purchasing, green manufacturing and material management, green distribution and marketing and reverse logistics. The implementation of green logistic on health enterprises is to enhance firm's ecologist image and ensure competitive advantage of the firms through reducing raw material, obtainning material cost and fulfilling social responsibility. The implementation of green logistic on health enterprises is seemed to make win-win strategies functional by increasing economic, operational and environmental performace. The central body of this study, whose surveys were cunducted by face to face meeting method was ingendered of public, private and university hospitals in Istanbul. In the analysis of the data obtained, we used explanatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation and regression analysis in order to dedect the relationship between variables. In this paper, the reasons of why firms implement green logistic and the impact of green logistics on health enterprises performance have been analyzed with studying the green logistics activities on health enterprises.
