The effects of talent management on sustainable competitive advantage: A research on hotel enterpri̇ses

Talent management is the ability to operate a qualified workforce with high performance and potential, which the business needs in line with its strategic objectives, in order to gain a competitive edge in business. It is also a new approach brought about by the roles and responsibilities determined by human resources management, including the provision and retention of development opportunities for the qualified workforce. Hotel businesses need to be innovative and utilize talent management activities in order to reach the strategic objectives such as meeting competition within the tourism sector, using resources more efficiently, reducing costs, reducing risks for the future. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the influence of hotel management's talent management activities on achieving sustainable competitive advantage of hotel businesses. The research covers hotel enterprises in Düzce and Sakarya provinces where a number of alternative tourism cultures can be made, which are developing in terms of natural beauty and tourism potential. In this study, qualitative research method was preferred as research method and interview technique was used as data collection tool. The results of the research provide a new perspective on talent management issues related to the "qualified workforce", which is sometimes discussed in the tourism industry, as well as a significant contribution on how talent management activities can be transformed into competitive advantage.
