Abstract (EN)

Coaching has received considerable attention in recent years as the responsibility for employees? learning and development has been increasingly devolved to line managers for producing long-lasting learning, contributing to high levels of motivation, and improving and enhancing employee performance, working relationships, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. Despite the growing interest, there exists little published empirical research that measures specific coaching behaviors of line managers or examines the linkages between line managers? coaching behavior and employee satisfaction in Turkish literature. The purpose of the research is to examine supervisory coaching behavior in an industrial context and to assess its association with employee job satisfaction. So, the study was guided by the following research questions: Is there a relationship between supervisory coaching behaviors and employee job satisfaction? Is there a positive association between supervisory coaching behaviors and employee job satisfaction? Is there a relationship between worker?s demographic characteristics with coaching and job satisfaction perceptions? Research conducted on 101 medical sales representatives in Adana district using seven point coaching scale of Ceylan (2002) and five point job satisfaction scales of Ackfeld and Coote (2005). Our findings lend credence to the efficacy of supervisory coaching as an employee development approach that can have a positive impact on job satisfaction. However, although coaching and job satisfaction related with each other, it was apparent that there was little evidence on its positive association with employees? job satisfaction and demographic characteristics.
