Abstract (EN)

The intrinsic curiosity of societies to inform and receive information with translation and journalism activities gives rise to the concept of news translation. This concept inherently encompasses the act of rewriting, endowing it with characteristics that transcend traditional definitions of translation. This thesis investigates how news translators actively reshape texts and the degree to which they influence the final product. In addition, the study encourages a reconsideration of how the practice of rewriting in news translation aligns with the Interpretive Theory of Translation, which, as proposed by Seleskovitch and Lederer, highlights the importance of grasping and rephrasing meaning rather than adhering strictly to the source text's linguistic form. Focusing on news reports published by the BBC in Arabic, English, and Turkish after October 7, this study examines how texts are rewritten in the context of news translation. The analysis reveals that translators play an active role in shaping the cognitive framework of the audience, extending far beyond simple linguistic transfer.
