Abstract (EN)

This thesis includes information related with a history, an ethnicalstructure and the linguistic characteristics of the region Sorgun of districtYozgat. And also there is a short dictionary (lexicon) which consists of somewords and their meanings used only in Yozgat district.In the introduction of the thesis there is some general informationabout the region of Sorgun.The characteristics of phonetics of the Sorgun dialect which werefound as a result of the analyzing the texts collected from the villages ofSorgun are given in the first Chapter.It is discussed about the vowels that differ from those in literarylanguage and being used in Sorgun dialect, their characteristics, the reasonsof their formation, short vowels, vowel harmony, changing and drop of vowelsand their reasons. Besides, in the matter of consonants it is touched upon thesubjects like characteristics of the consonants that differ from those used inliterary language and under the title of ?consonant changing? - the subjects ofbecoming vocalized and becoming breath of consonants; fluency and nonfluency; syllable linking; permutation (replacement of consonants) and thestress.In the second Chapter, the phonetic characteristics of Sorgun dialectare studied with their examples. The chapter consists of six main titles:nouns, pronouns, adverbs, verbs and prepositions.In the Conclusion the linguistic particularities determined during theresearch are given in articles. The part of Bibliography contains personalinformation of people whose speeches were used during the study .In another chapter, there are the texts collected from the center of theregion and from different villages of Sorgun and used as a source of thethesis.These texts were collected from 26 persons by talking of differentsubjects to each of them.In the last chapter, there is a dictionary containing the meanings of thewords not used in the literary language or existing in literary language, butnot understood due to the phonetic changes they underwent.
