Effect of nutrient applications on yield and quality in tomato plant under high temperature stress

Tomato is one of the most produced, consumed and traded agricultural products worldwide. Due to its benefits on human health, it has various uses in the food industry such as canned food, tomato paste, ketchup, pickles and tomato juice. In the experiment, the effects of iron, manganese, zinc and copper elements, which have a synergistic effect with potassium, on the yield and fruit quality of tomato plants when applied together with potassium were investigated. The experiment was carried out in the producer's greenhouse located in Çığır village of İdil District of Şırnak Province. Quantum F1 tomato variety was used in the study. The research consisted of two parts: Normal conditions and stress (high temperature stress). The trial consisted of 5 different applications: K+Fe, K+Mn, K+Zn, K+Cu and control. Applications were applied foliar 3 times with 15 days intervals. The study was conducted according to the randomized block trial design with 3 replications. After applications, on the green parts of the plants; Leaf chlorophyll content (SPAD), leaf relative moisture content, leaf temperature, leaf fresh and dry weights were determined. In harvested fruit samples; Fruit diameter, fruit length, wall thickness, fruit hardness, fruit weight, fruit color, EC, fruit fresh and dry weights, pH, TSS and total yield were determined. Additionally, macro-micro element contents in fruits and leaves and amino acid analyzes in fruits were performed. In the findings obtained as a result of the study, it was determined that applications made under high temperature stress negatively affected the yield and fruit quality, compared to applications under normal conditions. It has been determined that potassium-added Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu applications under high temperature stress have a positive effect on fruit yield and quality.
