Abstract (EN)

Despite the fact that Greek policy on Turkey is regarded to be the combination of various elements such as history, geography, economy, and military etc, it is her ?perception of threat? that determines and makes this policy prominent. Considering all that the most hazardous challenge to her will cause from the East, namely Turkey, Greece has allocated her largest defensive investments for the vicinity located in.Greece has always had the assistance of other countries, being friend or comrade while determining and applying her policies against Turkey. During her proclamation of independence, in the late 19th century, and the early 20th century as well, Greece attacked Turkey surely having the support (or guidance) of one or more countries. Having realized especially subsequent to the crushing defeat in Anatolia that battling against Turkey is of no ease at all, Greece wanted, for the last time, to try her chance against Cyprus Peace Operation occurred in 1974, but Greece was crushingly defeated there as well.Just as in the past, Greece even today regards Turkey as a threat to her, and keeps her domestic policy balanced with the dream of ?Megali Idea? created on this perception of threat. She keeps both her citizens and the whole world busy, making up lots of so-called disputes between both parties. Greece, maintaining her national identity and state structure and preserving her unity and solidarity with the dream of Megali Idea presented to Greek people, hinders Turkey?s way by taking these problems to some organizations such as the UN, the EU and the others. After 1981, the Greek disputes taken care by the UN for long years were hosted by the EU as well, and they ensured both Greek?s and their own benefits in the struggle of the problems.Although Greece, being a member-to be neighboring country that applied to the European Union at the same time and in the same living conditions as Turkey did, was admitted in 1981, Turkey is still looking forward to getting a happy ending for the European Union under the shelter of various pretexts. Most problems between EU and Turkey that Turkey is forced to solve are those that Turkey and Greece have to solve mutually. However, Greece desires to solve above-mentioned problems in accordance with her benefits, having the support of international organizations. EU, thus, finds available excuses in order not to admit Turkey, and by extending the time of admission, it does not want to lose a good market. In thive end, both Greece and EU (as a union and as single countries) make use of a country, Turkey lingerings at the door of EU. Briefly speaking, in the policy that Greece applies with the support of the EU, Turkey fights on her own against twenty-seven countries.
