Abstract (EN)

The term "generation" refers to time intervals formed by economic and social innovations prevalent worldwide. In other words, the concept of a generation is identified as a group of individuals who were born approximately in the same period and faced similar situations, thus sharing common perceptions, ideas, and behaviors due to the similar responsibilities they have undertaken. Each period has its own shared characteristics, situations, and events, based on which generations are classified. Categorizing generations makes it easier for researchers in various aspects of scientific studies. Therefore, knowing the generation individuals belong to in education helps educators approach success more effectively. Generally, in the 21st century, generation categorization is made as Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Y, and Z. In this study, specifically, the expectations of Generation Z are questioned, and accordingly, the suitability of texts in Turkish Language and Literature high school textbooks for Generation Z is examined. Descriptive research method and document analysis were used in the study. Initially, printed and digital resources in both domestic and foreign literature were analyzed through a general scanning model. Based on the obtained information, a pool of items consisting of suitability criteria for Generation Z was created. A draft form of 40 items was prepared and presented to field experts for their opinions and suggestions. As a result of expert feedback, it was determined that 30 items were suitable. For the purpose of pilot testing, the form was examined by 2 experts using the code reliability method on 15 texts. The code reliability was determined as 82%. The established items of reliability were applied to all texts. The suitability of a total of 153 texts in Turkish Language and Literature textbooks for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades at the secondary education level for Generation Z was presented in tables with numerical data and interpreted. Keywords: generation z, textbooks, turkish language and literature, interactive teaching, modern teaching materials
