Investigation of the effects of different trap types and colors on the populations of olive fly, Bactrocera oleae (Rossi) (Diptera: Tephritidae)

Abstract (EN)
Bactrocera oleae (Rossi) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is a pest causing significant losses in many fruit species. Chemical and biotechnological control methods are generally used to control this pest. However, recently, due to the menace exposed by these chemicals to the environment, human and animal health, the more ecological control strategies of are being used, which was found in biotechnical control methods. In this study, the possibilities of using a different sizes, types, and colors of trap types were compared to each other. First, the most effective colors were determined and then to effectiveness of the combinations of these colors with different sizes was compared each. In addition, in the study, the attractiveness effect of dispensers containing Olive fly pheromone bunimal (1, 7-dioxaspiro- (5, 5) undecane-Spiroketal) with Rebell trap were compared to our trap design. According to the results by observing the activity sides of colors alone, yellow colored traps were captured 30% of the total individuals in 2019. That's presented the best results while in 2020, the best color was yellow-white with 28 % captured. On the other hand, at the efficiency through dimensions alone, it was shown that the smallest traps captured 77 individuals in the first year and the smallest size traps again captured the highest number of individuals in second year. The combination of the yellow smallest size traps (21 individuals) in the first year in binary combinations and yellow-white medium size traps (84 individuals) in the second year was showed the highest attractiveness interms of number of individuals caught.
