The comparison of anxiety and depression levels between the mothers of children with mental and physical disability and mothers of non-handicapped childre

Disability can be explained by one's not being able to adapt to normal life requirements with the result of image loss caused by mental, physical and spiritual specifics functioning continuously. Individuals with disabilities and their families can face the problems of privacy, education, health care, employment, transportation, environment, dwelling and society. Families of children with disability can't seem to accept the disability and have difficulty with facing a lot of problems resulting from this unacceptance. In this study, the depression levels of the mothers of children with disability and mothers of non-handicapped children are evaluated with Beck and Zung depression scales, anxiety levels are evaluated with Beck anxiety scales. Significant difference between the point avarage of depression of the mothers who did not have children with disabilities and those who had children with disabilities has been detected, but it has also been detected that there is not much of a difference in the point avarage of anxiety in the comparison of those two.
