Menhecu'l-Allame Nâsır Subhânî fî Tefsîri'l-Kur'ani'l-Kerîm Allame Nasır Sübhanî'nin Kur'an tefsirindeki metodu

Quranic exegesis is among the most beneficial sciences due to its connection to the Quran. Despite the varying scholarly methodologies with regards to this discipline, each of them discovers a new Quranic treasure. Naser Sobhani is someone who dedicated his life to serving the Quran but despite this, his methodology of Quranic exegesis was not widely known among those interested in the science of exegesis. It is for this reason that the researcher chose to study his methodology in Quranic exegesis using an inductive, field-based approach. The introduction includes a biography of Sobhani covering his life and education, academic legacy, character, intellectual and reform efforts, imprisonment, martyrdom and scholarly praise of him. Following this are two chapters, the first clarifies the principles of his methodology in Quranic exegesis over three sections, which reflect his three methodologies, namely: narration-based, opinion-based and linguistic-based exegesis. These are further broken into subsections. The second chapter expounds Sobhani's approach in Quranic exegesis. The thesis concludes with significant findings of the research, which may be summarised as follows: regarding narration-based exegesis, he explains the Quran with the Quran, pays particular attention to the different recitations, cites authentic narrations, rarely quotes the sayings of the pious predecessors but without mentioning their names, carefully examines instances of abrogation and holds that the stages of abrogation are repetitive depending on the circumstances. Regarding opinion-based exegesis: he uses rationality and sensory perception as evidence in accordance with Islamic teachings, as well as rules of deduction and principles of inference. He does not cite Israelite narratives; refutes innovated ideologies; and is of the opinion that the disjointed letters are Allah's secret and serve as a challenge. He also affirms the attributes of Allah Almighty in accordance with the methodology of the people of Sunnah. Regarding linguistic-based exegesis: he focusses on etymology, grammar, rhetoric and word meaning. In his exegesis he introduces each chapter by mentioning its topic, themes, reason for revelation and the relevance of its sequence. Then he explains each part of the chapter by clarifying its vocabulary, giving general and detailed interpretations, mentioning benefits and discussing other exegetes' opinions.
