Transcription and evaluation of the decisions related to the timar system in the Ahkam Registers of Sivas with the numbers of 1 and 11.

Ahkâm Registers are sources that provide information about the social, economic and administrative structures of the Ottoman Empire. Therefore, it provides very important data for researches of social and economic history. These registers are arranged on a provice basis since 1742. Transcription and evaluation of the provisions related to the tımar system in these two registers constitute the main subject of our thesis This thesis study comprises the transcription and evaluation of the provisions related to the tımar system in the 1st and 11 of Sivas Ahkâm Registers. The main sources of the thesis are composed of the provisions related to the tımar system in these two registers of Sivas Ahkâm Registers which are dated the periods of 1742-1744 ve 1765-1767 respectively. The objective of the thesis study is to determine the problems in the tımar system during the periof of 1742-1767 and point out the dissolution in the system by comparing the tımar provisions in both registers. The thesis consists of introduction, five main chapters, conclution and apendices section. In the first chapter of the thesis, it has been given information about tımar system and the registers which kept in the imperial council. In the second chapter, the provisions determined in two Ahkâm registers of Sivas have been evaluated in respect to form and content. First of all, the provisions related to the tımar, zeamet ve mirliva hass subsistences have been dirpersed by years and then evaluated. Later the tımar provisions have been classified according to their contents and given in a table. Afterthat the jugements in each catagory have been examined by giving examples. In the third chapter, the findings obtained from the tımar judgements have been shown in tables. In the conclution, the findings from the mentioned chapters of the thesis have been evaluated. In the section of apendices, summeries and transcriptions of the tımar judgements obtained from 1st and 11 of Sivas Ahkâm Registers and examples of pages from two examined registers are added.
