Characteristics of emergency department use andcompliance among patients aged 65 and over arriving via 112

This study continues to examine the experiences, treatment adherence, and nighttime activities of patients aged 65 and older who access emergency departments through Turkey's 112 emergency health services with emergency department support. The increase in elderly care makes geriatric-focused routines mandatory in healthcare systems, while the 112 service undertakes a fundamental role in patients' access to emergency healthcare. However, low health literacy, polypharmacy, and cultural factors restrict treatment and injuries in the emergency department. The research has been conducted through content analysis of audio recordings of participation from elderly individuals compatible with 112 in Yozgat province. Through this method, we reveal physical, psychological, and systemic barriers by reflecting patient experiences. The study evaluates the potential of technological solutions to increase the scope of access and care, while it is argued that geriatric emergency medicine practices can be utilized in Turkey. The thesis aims to improve patient-centered healthcare services by understanding the emergency department experiences of elderly patients. The study provides a qualitative contribution to Public Health, supporting the effective utilization of healthcare services by the elderly.
