Abstract (EN)
Shari'a courts are at the forefront of the judicial organization that gave the Ottoman legal system its unique feature. In order to ensure justice in the center and in the provinces, kadis and their deputies were appointed by the sultan's power of attorney. The registers, which are kept by the kadis during their duty, are a primary source, and also provide us with important information about the Ottoman family, society, economy and legal life. These legal texts also shed light on the history of the period and the city to which it belongs. There are 33 shari'a registries in the State Archives Presidency of Düzce country.Only the Registry no. 1153 for the year 1895 of these Registries covering the years 1885-1908, was studied. The second one is this work, which was transcribed and evaluated by us, numbered 1165 and dated 1318-1319/1901-1902. This notebook, which covers a period of about one year, contains 64 cases. There are a few notes by kadis on the last pages of the notebook. There is a wide variety of subjects in the cases mentioned in the registry, but the vice-regent generally dealt with cases related to family law. Inheritance cases, marriage, divorce, alimony and claims related cases constitute the most recent case records.
