Özet (EN)
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of breastfeeding, oral glucose, and red nose midwive during vaccination on pain management and vital signs in children between the ages of 12-18 months. Material and method: This experimental research (a randomized controlled ) was conducted in Çukurca Public Health Center in Hakkari (15.01.2017-15.05.2017). This randomized prospective study comprised all infants (N=171) at 12-18 months of age. Data was obtained using questionnaire and FLACC (Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, Consolability) pain scale. Data analysis was done using chi-square, one way analysis of variance, the repeated measures analysis of variance, and Tukey tests. Results: The effect of breastfeeding, glucose, and red nose on the management of pain during vaccination was found to be significant (p<0,05). With regard to pain score the difference between groups was not significant (p>0,05). There was no effect of experimental methods on the vital signs (pulse, saturation). In addition, the descriptive properties (height, weight, type of birth …) of the infants did not have any influence on the pain score (p>0,05). Conclusion: It seems that breastfeeding, glucose, and clowning reduce pain during vaccination in children between 12-18 months of age. Therefore one of these experimental methods might be suggested during vaccination. Keywords: breastfeeding, oral glucose, red nose, vaccination, midwifery
