Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 week swimming exercise on physical performance of naval school prep class students. For this purpose, a total of 40 healthy individuals were included in our study. The physical performances of the experimental group and the control group were measured as vertical jump, standing long jump, 100 meter sprint, sitting ball ball, sit-down test, burpie (quickness) test, 20 meter shuttle run test,50 meter swimming test). The control group only participated in the basic activities for 12 weeks. The experimental group performed swimming training in 3 days and 45 minutes weekly for 12 weeks.Physical performance tests were applied to the participants one day before and after the 12-week period.SPSS 20.0 package program was used to analyze the data obtained from the tests. The Paired Sample t Test was used to compare the data of the pretest and posttest and the Independent Test Test was used to compare the pretest and posttest difference between the groups. As a result of the statistical analysis, it was found that there was a significant difference in favor of the last test in all other physical performance tests except for the sit and reach test of the experimental group (p <0.05).In the control group, 100 meters running, long jump and sitting ball throw tests were significant (p <0,05).In the comparison between the groups, a significant difference was found in favor of the experimental group in the 50 meter swimming, standing long jump, sitting ball throw and sit-down tests (p <0,05).As a result, it can be said that 12-week swimming training increases physical performance in healthy individuals.
