Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the differences in aspect of physicalfitness and postural stability between children with visually impairment and theirsighted peers and examine the effects of physical activity program on physicalfitness and postural stability in children with visually impairment.Ninetheen children with visual impairment ( Experimental Group(EG): 8 ;Control Group(CG): 11) who were between age of 10-12 and their sighted peers (Comparison Group(CG²): 10) participated to this study. Determined characteristicsof children are ; having no second disability except for visually impairment, beingdiagnosed in a few years after the birth or in the birth.Physical activity program was applied 3 days in a week during 14 weeks.Brockport Physical Fitness Test, Postural stability Test and Physical Activite Formfor Children were applied to the participants before and after the 14 weeks physicalactivity program.As a results of this study CG² was founded higher performance than EG interms of right and left hand grip and 20 m PACER CG² also was founded higherperformance than CG in terms of right hand grip; left hand grip, 20 m PACER, andsit and reach, 20 PACER and trunk lift (p<0.05).After 14 weekly physical activity program it was determined decrease in BMIand increase in height, right and left hand grip, sit-up, 20 m PACER and pull-up ofEG in time (p<0.05It was founded no changing linked with time in weight, TR,CALF, sit and reach, postural stability and trunk lift.When investigating before and after test differences of EG, CG and CG², Itwas found that EG had higher gain than CG² in terms of left hand grip and posturalstability (P<0.05). It was found no significant chances in terms of height, weight,BMI, CLF, TR, hand grip, sit-up, and 20 m PACER in all groups (p>0,05) (Çizelge4.9).
