The reactive impact of the 15 July 2016 military coup attempt on national security perceptions

Planning sneakly without an indicated time by the soldiers, who rest upon government, in order to overthrow the government and seizure of power in a unconstitutional way is called "military coup". Democracy is damaged due to military coups and this also cause restriction of fundamental rights and freedom. Countries which govern by democracy superiority of law is essential and national will should be respected under protected human rights condition. Because of these reasons, armies should not make a military coup and restrict rights and freedom of people unde any circumstances. The purpose of this study is approaching the military coup which occurred on 15th of July 2016 and revealing reactive affects related national security clauses. As this military coup attempt it is foreseen that would be a negative effect on people's trust on government by opening fire on people and bombing Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Presidential Place and Police Special Operations Unit. Therefore, goal of this study consideration is virtually foreseen to identify invalidity or trueness of the situation. Thus, National Pattern Judgements Scale and Societal Security Perceptions Scale were used for this purpose. This survey was practiced on 400 subjects across Turkey and within this scope the study was completed by separating into 4 chapters. In first chapter, conceptual framework of security and national security were dealt. In second chapter, the relationship between national security and intelligence was explained. In third chapter, coup concept and 15th July 2017 military coup attempt were explained. In addition, it was given a place for research method and findings. The data acquired by using survey method were analysed and interpreted with SPSS statistics program.
