ABSTRACTTHE TRANSCRIPTION AND ANALYSE OF AİNTAB JUDICIAL RECORDNUMBER 156 (H.1312-1314; PAGES 167-250, 1-93, 1-8)ERKMEN, AyşeM.A. Thesis, Department of HistorySupervisor: Assist. Prof. Dr. Celâl PEKDOĞANJuly 2005, 482 pagesAintab Judicial Record Number 156, dated Hicri 1310-1314 (after Christy 1892-1896) hasbeen composed of totally 394 pages. In this research, the transcription of 175 pages from thesecond half of judical record has been done. While first 84 pages of them belong to NaibNesim Baltacı period, next 93 pages belong to Naib Mehmet Emin Efendi period. The Naibperiod of the last 8 pages of record had not been described. Above mentioned parts of thejudicial record starts at 9 November 1894 (in the Islamic calendar 10 Cemaziyel-evvel 1312)and ends at 8 October 1896 (in the Islamic calendar 1 Cemaziyel-evvel 1314). In those parts,totally 266 cases have been detected. In those cases, giving duties for tereke, müderris, imam,admiration and muezzin; heritage; divorce; a dept either you owe or pay; charter of a waqf;determination of livelihood, proxy and guardian etc. were found. In some cases of the recordinvolve the conflicts between Muslim and Muslim, Muslim and non-Muslim, and non-Muslim and non-Muslim people in the society. In the courts of Ottoman Empire,discrimination between Muslim and non-Muslim had never been stated. Always equallybehaved to Muslims and non-Muslims.Key words: Aintab, Judicial record, İlâm, Kassâm, Hüccet, Charter of a waqf
