Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to investigate relation between injury paterns with hypermobility, body composition and some anthropometric characteristics on 16-22 ages women volleyball players. This study was performed on 101 volunteer athletes playing in 12 different teams at various level of Turkish Volleyball Leagues. Some anthropometric characteristics, somatotype values, body fat values, sports injury history and hipermobility level of the athletes? were determined. Somatotype characteristics of athletes? were evaluated by Heath-Carter Formula, body fat percentage was calculated by Sloan and Weir Formula and hypermobility level was determined by Beighton Score. In this study, no significant statistical relations were found between somatotype characteristics. Conversely, significant statistical relations were found between BMI, body fat percentage and sports injury (p=0,05). In this study, significant statistical relation between hypermobility and sports injury was obtained(p=0,01). No research was found in literature regarding on hypermobility and injury risk on volleyball players. On the other hand, some reported studies on different sports show smilar results with this study. In conclusion, it was found that joint hypermobility enhances the risk of sports injury on 16?22 ages women volleyball players. According to us; medical examination before the sports participation and appropriate injury therapy provide better protection.
