Abstract (EN)
The genre called Kaside is one of the most important poetic genres in Classical Turkish poetry. The Kaside genres taking place at the beginning of every Divan (a Handwritten classical poetry book) were presented to the leaders of the empire or to the high positioned people of the society. In this present study, we dealt with the 17th century Kasides from the perspective of the Methiye chapters which glorify the people whom the Kaside was presented. Since, this study is limited, we just handled the Kasides? Methiye chapters being presented only to sultâns and Sadrazams (prime ministers of the time). The aim of this study is to determine the proportion of the Methiyes in 17th century Kasides comparing other chapters. In doing this, we also tried to determine the patterns of the glorification in Methiyes, and aim at exploring the parallelisms between the characters of the praised people and the patterns the poet used to praise those people. The determined data concerning the patters of glorification has also been shown by the graphs. Keywords: 17th Century, Classical Turkish Literature, Kasides, Methiye
