Özet (EN)

This dictionary has been prepared in order to facilitate the daily communication and propaganda activities of the members of the Order of Carmelites, one of the Christian groups that came to the Safavid Empire in the 17th century. This dictionary, which is trilingual in Italian, Persian and Old Azerbaijani, provides important data for the history of Azerbaijani in a narrow context, and for the history of the Turkish in a broad context, in terms of the place where it was prepared, the period of it was prepared, the people who prepared it, and the linguistic material it contains. In the introduction section of study, this dictionary is introduced in detail and the scope, limitations and research methods of the study are explained. In the second section, the period from the establishment of the Safavid Sect to the death of Shah Abbas has been examined in an extensive way. Then, the relations of the Safavid Empire with Europe and the activities of the missionaries in the Safavid geography are mentioned. In the third section, This dictionary was evaluated in line with the principles of lexicology. Then, linguistic analysis was made based on the Turkish vocabulary in the dictionary. This part consists of orthography, phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary. Diachronic and synchronic analysis methods were applied especially in the phonetic and morphological parts of the linguistic analysis. In the vocabulary section, the data in the Turkish column, were classified and examined. After, an extensive analysis has been made about the history of Turkish-Persian language relations from past to present. In this section, the Turkish words in the Persian column are also classified. These examinations are followed by the parts related to the text of the dictionary. The Turkish data are not alphabetical because the original text of the dictionary is arranged in Italian alphabetical order. In this section, firstly, the data in the Turkish column are alphabetized and their Turkish equivalents are given. Then, there is the full text prepared as a printed copy based on the original copy. Transcriptions of the headlines in both Turkish and Persian columns are also included here. In the examinations made, it was determined that the data in the Turkish column of the dictionary demonstrate transition between Old Oghuz Turkish and today's Southern Azerbaijani. For the aforementioned period, it has been suggested to use the terms Old Azerbaijani or Safavid Turkish.
