18th Century diwan poetry poetics (Arpaemînizâde Sâmî, Edirneli Kâmî, Esrâr Dede, Nedîm, Seyyid Vehbî, Şeyh Gâlip, Vahîd Mahtumî)

From past until present time, there has become different understandings of poetry in Turkish poetry and relating to this different poetics have appeared and still continuing to appear. This variance is for sure a wealth on behalf of our poetry. Diwan poetry, which constitutes densest and broadest period of Turkish poetry history whether in regard to time or literally output, has an essential and respected place in this wealth. Having said that, the studies and information related to both tradition's and its representatives' poetical features haven't been at the intended level yet. In accordance with the study's subject, primarily poetics' definition and context, poetics' historical cruise in West, East and Turkish literature, literateur scan within the scope of 18th century Ottoman Empire's political and literal situation, examination of the sources and gathering the data studies have been carried out. After examining the sources, poets and their works of art, which are to be studied as samples to determine the 18th century diwan poetry's general politics, have been defined. It is regarded that the chosen poets are the outstanding poets of the century and represent at least one or a few of the styles such as classical, bediî, hikemî, and mahallî, which are influential in the century poem. In line with these constraint, Edirneli Kâmî, Nedîm, Vahîd Mahtumî, Arpaemînizâde Samî, Seyyid Vehbî, Esrâr Dede and Seyh Gâlip's diwan and masnawis are examined in poetical case. The data obtained are coded and classified under certain themes. In accordance with these poetical data and findings reached, poets' individual poetics and then the general poetics of the century have been tried to be defined. Likewise, the comparison of 18th century diwan poetry peotics with 16th and 17th century poetics is made. The study we have carried out has shown that the poets, chosen as samples, had excogitated on the poetical issues such as understanding of poem and poet, basic elements of poetry, poet's relationship with the environment etc. and made observations and evaluations on them. The results obtained not only show that there could be differences in poetics of poets even who lived in the same century and were the representatives of the same tradition, but also indicate to the existence of poetical approach and rich literature critics in diwan literature.
