Abstract (EN)

Sharia court records have been used as a primary source for detailed examination of the Ottoman Empire's financial, administrative and military history. Sharia court record numbered 1840 contain court records from Ramadan 1074 to Muharram 1075 (March 1075 to July 1664). This transcribed book examines numerous areas, including the social, cultural, administrative, and economic affairs of the province of Trabzon, located in the Eastern Black Sea region. The first part of this study analyzes Sharia court records numbered 1840, while the second part includes its transcription. The transcribed Sharia court records numbered 1840 include property sales, grant cases, marriage records, inheritances, peace records, debt receivables, public order, slavery, and cases originating from the central government. This thesis, titled "Transcription and Analysis of the Trabzon Serif Record Book No. 1840", was prepared to assist historians researching the social history and urban history of the Ottoman Empire.
