Marriage records in Trabzon Sharia Registers Numbered 1873, 1874 and 1875 and their evaluation (H. 1124-1128/ m. 1712-1716)

This study evaluates the marriage records of the region within a 5 year period covering the years 1124-1128 (1712-1716) by utilizing the Trabzon Sharī'iyye Registers numbered 1873, 1874 and 1875. In the introduction part of this study; information about the subject, purpose, scope of the research and the resources used in the research are given.Afterwards, information about the general situation of the Ottoman Empire between 1700-1718 is given. Then, brief information about the Trabzon Sharia Registers numbered 1873, 1874 and 1875 is given. Then, under the main heading of marriage in Islamic and Ottoman law, explanations were made on marriage, mahr, custody and proxy in both Islamic and Ottoman law. In the first part of our thesis, the general tables of the marriage records in Trabzon Şeriyye Registers numbered 1873, 1874 and 1875 are given. In the second part, the marriages in the three registers we examined were evaluated in general, the marital status, marital status,participation of men and women in the marriages, and the titles and salaries of the proxies with tables and graphs.
