The main aim of this study is to find the effects of the Verismo movement in the operas, also called the second period, of Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most important Italian composers of the 19th century, and trying to address the woman image in the art and especially opera art over the post modern feminist course by analyzing the representations of woman treated in these operas. In the first part of the study, the historical process that was effective in the formation of the Verismo movement, the effects of this process on the 19th century and opera art were dealt with, sections of the life of Verdi were presented and information on the great effects that Verdi had left on Italy in the period by his compositions was stated. In the second part, information about the periods of feminist theory is given by referring to the historical background of feminist theory and effects of this theory in artistic fields and especially in the art of music. In the last section, the female characters represented in the Verdi operas were analyzed and the findings that emerged in the light of the analyzes were tried to be read through the dynamics of the postmodern feminist discourse.
