Abstract (EN)

This study with the name of Adzharistan (1875 - 1925) involves the his-tory of Adzharians , the native residents of Adzharistan Autonomous Repub-lic in Georgia, the terms of Byzantine, Islamic State, Iran, Mongolia and Sel-juks.This region was united with the Anatolian district after the Ottomanconquer. This condition has lasted until the War of Ottoman-Russian (theWar of 93). Adzharistan was engaged by the Russians as a result of that Ot-tomans has lost the aforementioned war and the prosecuting treaty, theTreaty of Berlin. Russians has forced native residents to migrate permanentlyfor changing the demographic structure of the region. This mandatory migra-tion policy has remained until the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk signed by the Rus-sians in the First World War. Although the Ottomans have gained the regionby the aforementioned treaty, they have withdrawed from the area laying thegroundwork for the British occupation.This area was engaged by the Brits and Georgians respectively. Ene-mies were driven from the territory in the boundaries of Misak-ı Milli as a re-sult of establishment of TBMM. Although Adzharistan was the territory in theboundaries of Misak-ı Milli, it has remained outside of the territory of Turkey.Grant of political self-administration right in the international law and Geor-gian law for the preservation of Islam religion and Turkish culture with thehelp of Turkey?s efforts, the events exposing this right and related topicsaroused as a result of appliance of the aforementioned right were investi-gated thoroughly in this study. That the cultural and religious rights of Adz-harians was violated in the term of Soviet Union although these rightsgranted by the treaties of Moscow and Kars were included in the constitu-tional laws of Adzharistan Autonomous Republic in 1938 and 1978 and thatthe aforementioned rights were guaranteed after the year of 1991 were in-cluded in this study.
